Spring 2019 Capital Campaign

Embracing our past. Building our future.

As we count the Omer this year, can we count on you?

A long-standing cultural and religious institution, Congregation Kol Israel has been a central part of the fabric of Jewish Brooklyn for nearly a century, hosting a diverse and ever-changing congregation and a wide-ranging array of community events. Now, with its centennial on the horizon, CKI is looking to members past and present to make its building as modern and dynamic as the people inside--in order to prepare for the next 100 years.

We’re ready for the next century of CKI, but our building isn’t. For many, CKI is a Jewish home--a place welcoming to all, where they can engage with Judaism on their terms. But for a home to flourish, it must be comfortable. That’s why, as part of our effort to transform our ritual space, we’re starting with the bathrooms and air conditioning. We don’t want anyone to stay home from CKI because of physical discomfort.

To complete the first phase of this project, we’ll need $700,000. The good news is that, through grants and other donations, we’ve already raised $600,000.

That’s where you come in. We’re asking everyone who would benefit from a more comfortable space, from regular Shabbat attendees to people who enjoy the art events, to contribute whatever they can, even if it’s just $18, to help us get over the last hurdle of $100,000.

We hope to achieve this goal by Shavuot, which falls on June 8, so when we celebrate the acceptance of the Torah, we’ll also be celebrating the future we’re creating together.

We all count on CKI.
